The industry of thermal
spraying dates back over one hundred years and is accredited
to Dr. Max Ulrick Schoop of Zurich and his collaborators,
who recognized the possibilities of a stream of molten particles
impinging upon themselves to create a coating . These innovators
paved the way for others to further the industry through
the development of equipment and techniques for producing
coatings using wire and powder metals.
